The transfer of the secret medical text “Mennag Kagyuma” from the famous Professor Komjo Wangdu. The treatise contains more than 20,700 prescriptions for drugs, medicines and amulets. (you can watch the video by following the link). The transfer was carried out in the traditional style for 3 days. This transfer is the basis for the practice of Tibetan Medicine. It is believed that if the transfer is not received, then the benefits of the applied methods are minimal or there are no benefit at all. The transfer consists of three components:
  • Wang – empowering
  • Lung – oral transfer
  • Damtsig – tantric vows
Lung creates a stream of continuity of the transfer. When there is no lung - there will be errors and deviations.
Damtsig supports the transfer. Student’s violation of vows is especially bad for a teacher. Therefore, students are carefully selected.
Wang empowers the practice.
These three components are essential for practice. Without them, practice is not stable and will not give the desired result.
Professor Wangdu repeatedly emphasized these points and focused on them. Professor Komdzho Wangdu is a scientific consultant, the Rector of the Department of Traditional Tibetan Medicine of the Medical University in Lhasa. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of these instructions for the qualitative development of the Tibetan Medicine in the post-Soviet space. Professor has been pleased with our sincere interest in Tibetan Medicine and has agreed to visit the CIS countries in a few years. In addition, Professor Wangdu gave initiations for:
  • “rGyud bZhi” (“Four Tantras”)
  • Yuthok Nyingthig Ngöndro
  • Yuthok Nyingthig in two traditions:
    - 5th Dalai Lama’s traditions;
    - Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche’s traditions;
  • Medicine Buddha. The practice of the Medicine Buddha is done not only for treatment, but also for liberation.
  • Practice of the Buddha Amitayus
  • Practice of the Yuthokpa.
Each of these initiations took one to four days. Yuthok Nyingthig - is a very important practice of doctors and practicing healers of Traditional Tibetan Medicine. The name Yuthok Nyingthig is translated as “the innermost essence of the teaching of Yuthogpa”. It was developed with the intention to combine medical and spiritual practice into one. This is achieved through the harmonious integration of body, consciousness and energy in the subtlest form of the five elements. The teching cycles are based on the Yuthok Nyingthig core text and commentary.

From October 2, representatives of the Ukrainian Federation of Wingchun kungfu/Jeetkunedo took part in preparing for performances at a sports festival dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of the city of Hanoi. A huge number of participants forced the organizers to conduct a qualifying round for three days on three sites at once. Georgii Kuzmin performed a demonstration of the Wingchun Kungfu techniques, passed the qualifying round and reached the final. Like all the other participants of the final performances, Georgii Kuzmin was awarded a medal and memorable and valuable gifts. The team of the Ukrainian Federation of Wingchun kungfu/Jeetkunedo was the only team from the former USSR countries. The final performances were filmed by television. It was very interesting and useful to talk with representatives of several Vietnamese branches of the Wingchun Kungfu such as: Tien’s, Vo Bakui’s, Ngo Si Quy’s and Chan Wan Fung (the One-Eyed Dragon).
Also, there were interesting acquaintances with representatives of the traditional Vietnamese martial arts schools. The festival was attended by schools from all over Vietnam. And the performances of many schools caused genuine interest. Some representatives of the schools spoke Russian, because they had studied in the USSR.

Georgii Kuzmin’s Wingchun Kungfu teacher (the direction of Tien, a disciple of Te Cong), from whom he began studying in 1996 upon the recommendation of Giang, became a monk. Therefore, Georgii Kuzmin and Sifu Giang went to the school of one of the main and old students Tien’s students, and he agreed to teach. Teacher Noi presented books written by him on Vietnamese Wingchun Kungfu with a personal autograph. A flight from Hanoi to central China, where Shaolin-si has stood for many centuries.

November 22-26, the Ukrainian Federation of Wingchun kungfu/Jeetkunedo team took part in 8th international competitions in Shaolin Wushu. For a great psychological and emotional mood, the opening program of the competition was a visit to the legendary Shaolin Temple. Because of the column of buses with participants on the way to the cradle of martial arts, one could see how popular Wushu is in China. The number of students involved, and the number of varieties of schools was just overwhelming. For a dozen kilometers along the highway tens of thousands of students welcomed the participants of the competition with their demonstration performances.
The result of the performance of the Ukrainian Federation of Wingchun kungfu/Jeetkunedo team was stunning - all the team athletes than third place or higher.

  • Vladimir Zenin – a bronze medal.

After the Shaolin competition, the team of the Ukrainian Federation of Wingchun kungfu/Jeetkunedo settled and trained in one of the main local Shaolin schools. The team received instructions on the traditional Shaolin Qigong and general basis of Wushu.

Re-visiting the Shaolin monastery for a more detailed study of the Shaolin heritage, more in-depth acquaintance with the philosophy of Chan Buddhism and martial arts. This time, the team is not limited in time, so there’s an opportunity to study calmly and thoughtfully begin to study the Shaolin heritage. Carefully listening to the explanations of the monk guide, whom the Chinese side graciously provided, the members of the team were more and more imbued with the essence of the ancient wisdom.

A visit to the Temple of the First Patriarch.

Visit the Taoist monastery Zhongyue-miao. A meeting with a Taoist Master Yin Zhongshan, with whom Georgii Kuzmin and Andrey have known each other since 2006. The master is presented with a modest souvenir, specially brought from Kyiv. A conversation ensued, the master invites the whole team to his modest monastic dwelling. He shows photographs of himself with a group of CIS tourists headed by Xu Mingtang. The master told that he had a student in Ukraine, whose name was Maxim. That student periodically calls the master. The conversation with Master Yin Zhongshan was warm and memorable. Master is almost 100 years old, but vigorous, optimistic, walks easily. He has a good memory and clear speech. All this suggests the idea of how effective the techniques used by the Oriental masters are.
The team visited Chenjiagou, the homeland of Chen Shi Taijiquan style.
A visit to the Chen Shi Taijiquan Academy, created by Chen.
A visit to the “Chen Shi style Museum” and the memorial complex dedicated to the history of the origin, development and distribution of Taiji.
The team visited the clan cemetery of the Chen family, where all the the legendary masters and historical figures, who played a large role in the development of the Chen Shi Taijiquan style, rest.
A visit to the house museum of Yang Luchan, the creator of Yan Shi Taijiquan style.
Visiting places where the great masters of Taijiquan used to train, and where modern cinema, shoots scenes for films about Taiji.

> Visiting the Longmen Grottoes.

A visit to the Temple of Baima-si.

A visit to the city of Kaifeng.

A visit to the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City in Beijing.

The main part of the team was visiting China for the first time. At once, the athletes got the opportunity to see a lot, this huge invaluable experience now gives them an opportunity to tell the truth from the lie. Most of the team returned to Ukraine with medals and a lot of impressions.

Georgii Kuzmin and Andrii Kuzmin, once again, went to the south of China at the very heart of where Wingchun Kungfu has emerged. The arrival coincided with the celebration of the Yuenkayshan Wingchun School of its domestic holiday. After the celebration, Georgii Kuzmin and Andrii Kuzmin went to study with the son of the deceased Master Sum Nung (Cen Neng). During his lifetime, master Sum Nung (Cen Neng) expressed a wish that, after his demise, Georgii and Andrii continued learning from the master’s son. The covenant of the old Master has been fulfilled. Georgii and Andrii Kuzmin are TUDI (personal initiated students) of Sum Nung’s son and continue their studies. Son is now the head the school. Within a few months, a lot of instructions were received about Sum Nung Wingchun Kungfu.

During this period, Georgii and Andrey took part in the celebration of the birthday of Shitai – Sum Nung’s wife. People from all over China, Hong Kong and Canada came to her birthday party, old Sum Nung’s students and students of the school arrived too. There were no Europeans, except Ukrainians. In the morning, Ukrainian “Wingchunists” were the first to arrive at Shitai’s home to congratulate her on her birthday. Here is what Georgii Kuzmin said: “We’ve known each other for more than 10 years, and it’s only now that Shitai started to show Wingchun Kungfu movements, correct our mistakes and give instructions. We were amazed by almost 70-year-old woman performing attacking and defensive movements. Then she said that she does Wingchun Qigong every day, for which for some reason we don’t always have enough time. Every morning she goes to one of the Buddhist monasteries, where she does different work for free and voluntarily. It was a lesson for us, that the age is not a hindrance to anything, and high morality – a Great Power. A master of Feng Shui - Albert Wong came from Hong Kong for the birthday of Shitai. He is a student of a very famous and respected master of Feng Shui. Albert Wong allowed us to ask any questions about Feng Shui that we have in our daily life. We just had to take advantage of this a kind offer from him. Consultations with such masters cost a lot of money, and you need to sign up beforehand to get an appointment. But here, without any queue or fee we can ask as many questions as we like in a friendly atmosphere! Among all the questions I have asked, several were the most important: the correct design of the training room, the placement of the figure of the god of war and one of the patrons of martial arts - Guan Yu, and the placement of the Bagua mirror. Regarding Guan Yu, it was said that he is a worldly deity, and not a fully enlightened person. And with worldly deities you need to be especially careful, because they can attract negative energies, from which various obstacles and troubles arise. It was said in which rooms it is absolutely impossible to put the figure of Guan Yu, and how it should be oriented to the cardinal points. Many of the answers to our questions made us ponder, start analyzing various past events and notice interconnections. We unwittingly began to be filled with respect for a person whom we hadn’t really paid attention to before, thinking only about the techniques of Wingchun Kungfu. The communication was extremely useful from the point of view of the applied aspects.
It is always nice to meet people whom you have known for many years and with whom you share long distances of thousands of kilometers. But we are bound by school ties, and we had one teacher — master Sum Nung (Cen Neng)”.

During these months, very valuable and detailed instructions were received from the Sum Nung’s son on the section “Wingchun Qigong”, as well as on the techniques and theories of the Wingchun Kungfu system itself. A lot of valuable advice was given by the old Sum Nung’s students, who have been training with the master for decades. They have a lot to say about Wingchun Kungfu after so many years of studying it with one of the greatest practitioners of the Wingchun system.

Lun Gai
In one of the periods when Sifu went to the north to conduct a seminar, a free time appeared between classes, so Georgii Kuzmin and Andrii Kuzmin went to the Lun Gai’s school (he became a student of Ip Man in China in 1941, even before Ip Man has moved to Hong Kong). At the moment, Master Lun Gai has been practicing the Wingchun Kungfu system for 70 years! Georgii Kuzmin and Andrey Kuzmin trained with Lun Gai himself and his son (Lun Gai’s son has been practicing Wingchun for more than 50 years), received a lot of valuable advice from Lun Gai's senior students. They were very warmly treated have known each other for more than 10 years.

Once again, with a great interest visiting the Museum of Wong Fei-hung - one of the Ten Canton Tigers, the famous Master of Leitai and the great practitioner of Hungar Kungfu. In addition, Wong Fei-hung was a famous doctor of Chinese Traditional Medicine. The museum was celebrating yet another anniversary, and the practitioners of the Hungar Kungfu style were demonstrating their powerful and dynamic technique. The holiday has been traditionally opened with the consecration of Lions and the "Lion Dance". The audience has been clapping approvingly for every successful and extremely complex movement. There was something to learn, especially regarding the issues of mastering one’s own body.
There were two trips to Hong Kong (because the visa to Hong Kong was opened only for two weeks).
VTAA
Visited VTAA (federation created by Ip Man), Georgii Kuzmin and Andrey Kuzmin have been its member since 2000. Ip Man, Wong Shun Leung (teacher of Bruce Lee) coached here.

VTAA
Nowadays, Ip Man’s sons, Siu Yuk Men (one of the old students of Ip Man), Wong Shun Leung’s son, the students of Chu Shong-tin are training here. A meeting with Siu Yuk Men and other old acquaintances was warm. Siu Yuk Men came to the CIS this year and met with Georgii Kuzmin. Unfortunately, the rest of the Wingchun practitioners from the CIS did not participate in this meeting. Although it was a significant event: the only valid student of Master Ip Man, who has visited the territory of the former USSR for the first time.

Visited the statue of Bruce Lee.

Master Chu Shong-tin no longer trains, so there were very useful meetings with his old students. It was very interesting to visit the owner of the factory, that produces wooden mannequins, long Wingchun poles, butterfly knives, wall bags and other useful Wingchun stuff. The owner of this factory, an old practitioner of Wingchun Kungfu, started practicing when Ip Man was still alive. It was very interesting to listen to his understanding of Wingchun Kungfu, what equipment and weapon requirements there should be for Wingchun Kungfu.

Àïòåêà
A visit to the factory of traditional medicines, where plantations of medicinal plants are. There is a museum pharmacy near the factory. The Qingping market was visited, where medicinal plants are sold; in the past, this market was famous for its diverse trade, including rather exotic animals for the needs of local restaurants, and to please gourmets. On the Qingping market you can find almost any medicinal plant. Naturally, in order to find the necessary ingredient - you must know its name in Chinese. The merchants don’t know Latin. And there’s no need for them to know it, because everything goes in line with Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Pilgrimages were made to the two main monasteries of the Sixth Patriarch of Chan Buddhism, Huineng. Huineng is the person who created the South Chan School, which is currently known around the world. Northern school eventually ceased to exist. In one of the monasteries (Liuzu-si) – Huineng has realized something, and in another, in the city of Shaozhou, in the Baolin-si monastery - he spent the rest of his life and went to nirvana. His imperishable body in the "lotus pose" is located in one of the main halls of the monastery under glass. Feelings are indescribable.

A visit to the monastery where a nun Ng Mui once was. It’s not far from the place where Ng Mui Shitai used to practice and give instructions on Buddhism and fist fight to Yim Wingchun. This place is located in the mountain jungles, it is very difficult to get there, and also it is forbidden by local authorities. The region of the mountain on which this monastery is located is an international nature reserve, where objects of tourism, religion and scientific research are represented in indivisible unity. By decision of UNESCO, a research center for the study of ecology was established here.
